GEORGE TOWN, April 8, 2025 — Landowners and residents of 11 lots in Permatang Damar Laut must vacate by April 15 for the Pan Island Link 2A project, announced Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow. This follows a second extension from February 28, under the Land Acquisition Act 1960. Compensation totaling RM24.27 million has been paid since December, with some receiving up to RM3.8 million, though landowners claim it’s insufficient. Thirty parties have filed objections, with court hearings pending. The 5.3km highway will connect Penang South Island to the mainland via a viaduct and at-grade road.
