TAPAH – PAS has questioned the legality of Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Ayer Kuning by-election candidate, Dr. Mohamad Yusri Bakir, holding a senior civil servant position while active in politics. PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari highlighted that Yusri, a DG52-grade officer at the Education Ministry and Tapah Umno division secretary since 2020, may violate regulations. A 2023 ministry circular permits officers between DG41 and DG48 to hold political roles with approval, but not those in higher administrative posts like Yusri. BN announced Yusri, an ustaz and department head, as its candidate for the April 26 by-election, prompting PAS to seek clarification from the Education Minister.
