In Malaysia’s High Court in Putrajaya, the director in charge of protective custody is fighting to quash a subpoena from former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak. Najib, on trial for the RM2.27 billion 1MDB scandal, wants the director to testify about ex-Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng. The prosecution, led by Senior Federal Counsel Nur Hidayah Raihan Md Nasir, argues the director is bound by the Witness Protection Act 2009, forbidding disclosure of program details. On April 09, 2025, the court granted until Friday midday for a formal request to cancel the subpoena, with a hearing scheduled for Tuesday.
