SINGAPORE, April 11, 2025 — Former Nominated MP Calvin Cheng expressed deep remorse for suggesting pro-Palestine activists relocate to Gaza, acknowledging his March 13 Facebook post caused hurt, particularly among Muslims. After meeting Islamic Religious Council elders Ustaz Pasuni Maulan and Ustaz Mohamad Hasbi at Yusof Ishak Mosque, Cheng clarified his comments targeted Monday of Palestine Solidarity’s disruptive actions, not any race or faith. “I should not have jested about a conflict zone,” he wrote, promising greater sensitivity. Cheng also noted legal action against those misrepresenting his statements, which he called damaging.
