KUALA LUMPUR: A temporary Hindu temple on Jalan Rahmat, Jalan Ipoh, built without Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) approval, faces scrutiny after a protest by Muslim preachers outside the site. DBKL issued enforcement notices, including a stop work order, and confirmed the structure, on private land, is for the landowner’s personal use and will be removed for commercial redevelopment. In Dengkil, the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) plans to evict a temple illegally built on mosque-reserved land with the Sepang council, following no action since a 2024 notice. Eviction is expected within a month.
