KOTA BHARU, April 12, 2025 — Kelantan police report a disturbing surge in rape and incest cases, with 252 incidents recorded last year, up from 206 in 2023. Most shockingly, minors as young as 10 are involved, often in consensual relationships leading to pregnancies. Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat cites family conflicts, parental neglect, and lack of religious education as key drivers. With 98% of cases consensual, authorities urge parents to monitor children closely and call for community action to curb this growing crisis in the conservative state.
