Malaysia’s Tamil, Malayalee, and Sikh communities are celebrating their New Year—Chittirai Puthandu, Vishu, and Vaisakhi. Tamils mark ‘Visuvaavasu’ with ritual baths and prayers during Vishu Punniya Kaalam, guided by the Hindu calendar’s ‘Krothi’ year. Malayalees will observe Vishu with Vishukkani displays, temple visits, and Vishu Sadya feasts, symbolizing prosperity. Sikhs will honor Vaisakhi, commemorating the Khalsa’s founding in 1699, with Sri Akhand Path readings, Kirtan Darbar, and langar meals at 130 gurdwaras. Nationwide, these vibrant Hindu, Malayalee, and Sikh festivities will unite communities in joy, devotion, and cultural pride.
