Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim debunked claims of Christians aiming to “take over” Penang, alongside fears of Chinese political influence threatening the government. Speaking at the International Civilisation Dialogue 2025 in Universiti Malaya, the Penang-born leader urged focus on the Chinese community’s strengths, not stereotypes. “Choose the good ones who reflect our values,” he said, without naming the allegations’ source. Anwar, whose Pakatan Harapan coalition with DAP and UMNO governs Penang under CM Chow Kon Yeow, warned that racial hatred could unravel Malaysia’s multicultural fabric. He advocated for dialogue, tolerance, and good governance to foster unity and human dignity across races. No Christianisation he says.
