In 2024, Malaysia became the fourth most sought-after destination among Chinese high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) for luxury homes above US$5 million, rising from outside the top ten in 2023.

Juwai IQI attributes this to strong value, international schools, improved visa policies, and affordable prime properties compared to markets like Singapore and Bangkok. Chinese tourism recovery and a 35% increase in student enrolment from 2021-2023 also bolstered familiarity and demand.

The revised Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme further attracted buyers by offering structured pathways for long-term stays, enabling property investments. Malaysia continues to grow as an appealing Asian luxury market.
