In Kuala Lumpur, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, currently a prisoner, was granted a brief leave from his ongoing 1MDB trial to pay his last respects to Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at Masjid Negara. His lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, informed the High Court that Najib had secured permission from the Prisons Department to attend between 11am and 12.30pm. By 9.56am, clearance was confirmed, allowing Najib to leave at 10.15am. The court proceeded with the trial, calling former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun as the 19th defence witness, while Najib prepared to honor his late predecessor.
