A 70-year-old retiree lost over RM400,000 after being deceived by an acquaintance who claimed his family was afflicted by supernatural disturbances. The suspect allegedly offered traditional healing services and persuaded the victim to hand over cash and jewellery between March and early April.

Tangkak district police chief, Superintendent Roslan Mohd Talib, said the victim only realized he had been conned recently and filed a report on April 14.

Authorities are investigating the case under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. Police urge the public to remain cautious of dubious spiritual or traditional treatment claims to avoid falling victim.
