Opponents question PSM on campaign against Hindu faith

Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), despite avoiding race and religion in its campaigns, faces backlash for organizing the International Youth Rationalism Forum last December. Foreign speakers at the event criticized Hinduism, promoting atheism, which offended many Hindu attendees. Penang Hindu Endowment Board chairman RSN Rayer called it a violation of Rukun Negara’s “Belief in God” principle. With Ayer Kuning’s 14% Hindu voters pivotal in the by-election, why would they support PSM’s candidate, linked to a forum that disrespected their faith? In contrast, Tapah’s MP Datuk M Saravanan, a staunch Hindu, fiercely defends their beliefs, making the Socialist party’s appeal questionable.
