Perikatan Nasional (PN) has raised concerns over a growing number of pig farms in Ayer Kuning, a predominantly Malay constituency in Perak. PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad highlighted local complaints about the farms, citing health and odor issues. According to the Perak Veterinary Department, 30 licensed pig farms operate in Batang Padang and Mualim districts, but illegal oink farms could push the number higher. PN’s observations revealed both legal and illegal farms in Malay-majority areas like Kampung Tanjung Keramat, which is 98.9% Muslim. The Bagan Serai MP urged authorities to address the “porcine proliferation” to alleviate community concerns.
