Federal Territories Amanah chairperson Khalid Samad urged the Madani government to adopt a transparent approach, inspired by Najib Abdul Razak’s slogan, “The era of the government knowing everything is over,” for rationalizing RON95 petrol subsidies. Speaking to Malaysiakini in Shah Alam, Khalid emphasized broader public engagement to gather feedback on the initiative, which could use MyKad to determine eligibility, similar to the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah aid program. He stressed that the wealthy and foreigners should not benefit from subsidies. Khalid criticized the diesel subsidy rationalization’s lack of clarity, urging the government to present proposals openly and revise them based on public input.
