Malaysia Extends Visa-Free Entry for Chinese Tourists for 5 More Years

Malaysia will extend its Visa Liberalisation Plan (PLV) for Chinese tourists by five more years, following strong economic benefits, said Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution. The extension was formalised during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit, including a mutual visa exemption agreement for 90-day stays.

Over 900,000 Chinese tourists have arrived this year, with each spending about RM7,000, significantly boosting the economy. Saifuddin also launched the SPEAKS platform for lodging complaints against police misconduct and confirmed legal groundwork for MyDigital ID. The National Registration Department will lead its rollout, with legislative amendments planned to support its nationwide use.
