Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) defended its campaign poster for the Ayer Kuning by-election, which UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh called provocative. PSM’s Deputy Chairman S Arutchelvan said the poster simply highlighted contradictions in UMNO-Barisan Nasional’s unity stance. Featuring Akmal’s face with candidate Bawani KS and text in Chinese saying “vote BN = vote Dr Akmal,” the poster gained widespread attention after Akmal’s criticism. Arutchelvan welcomed the publicity, urging Akmal to discuss with coalition partners like MCA, DAP, and PKR. The party stressed rejecting parties exploiting race, religion, and royalty (3R) for votes, noting Akmal faces more police reports than the Party Socialist leaders.
