SHAH ALAM – Former PAS Central Committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz emphasized that voting in elections should take precedence over performing haj if the two coincide. He said this view, supported by Islamic scholars, aligns with the opinion of his late father, former PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, who advised postponing haj to the following year if it conflicts with elections. Nik Abduh, a former Bachok MP, stressed that voting is a critical Islamic duty to uphold just governance, urging Muslims not to underestimate its importance as a collective obligation (fardu kifayah). Meanwhile, Jakim is reviewing PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s remarks that to vote is more important than the haj.
