A 21-year-old labourer from Marang, Terengganu, is being investigated for lodging a false police report to avoid paying a fine for losing his MyKad. The man claimed he was robbed by a motorcyclist in Kuala Ibai, describing a violent attack and theft of his sling bag.

However, police later discovered that he had actually lost the bag during a scuffle in Kampung Gong Rok Nasik. Fearing a third-time penalty from the National Registration Department (JPN), he fabricated the story on a friend’s advice. The deception was uncovered at the Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters during the investigation.
