Turkiye Seeks ASEAN Dialogue Partner Status at 2025 Summits

Turkiye has shown interest in becoming a dialogue partner at the 2025 ASEAN Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz conveyed the request during Fadillah’s official visit to Ankara.

Malaysia, as ASEAN chair, may advocate for Turkiye inclusion, pending consensus from all member states. Turkiye might also join the ASEAN Energy Ministers’ Meeting’s business segment in September. The two nations discussed collaboration in energy, water management, and technology, with Turkiye keen on reducing trade deficits and strengthening ties through economic, cultural, and student exchanges.
