In Putrajaya, former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng, convicted in the US for his role in the 1MDB scandal, is set to testify as a defence witness in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1MDB trial on April 24, 2025. Najib’s lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, confirmed Ng’s testimony after a recent interview prompted an urgent request to expedite his appearance. Despite a restrictive US court order, the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled Ng could testify, asserting its jurisdiction. Ng’s testimony is critical, as Najib’s team aims to probe his knowledge of key players in the multi-billion-dollar 1MDB embezzlement scheme.
