Two men were fined RM3,000 each by the Sessions Court after pleading guilty to posting obscene comments on Facebook in 2022. Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman warned they face a one-month jail term if fines go unpaid.

A third accused, Mohd Nasir Kadir, pleaded not guilty and was granted bail. The charges, under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act, involve penalties of up to RM50,000 or jail for obscene online communication. The posts targeted a news portal’s content related to the baby daughter of a Malaysian medical specialist. Prosecutor Nur Nazhzilah Mohammad Hashim handled the case.
