Malaysia and the Maldives will expand cooperation into new areas such as floating solar, defence, and digital technology, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced during a joint press conference with Maldives President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

Anwar highlighted both nations’ maritime ties and existing collaborations in education, tourism, sports, and health. Future education cooperation will now also cover STEM and TVET fields. 

The leaders witnessed the exchange of three MoUs and two notes to strengthen bilateral ties. Anwar voiced strong support for Muizzu’s environmental advocacy, emphasizing Malaysia’s commitment to green initiatives and praising the fruitful bilateral meetings.
