PETALING JAYA: MCA secretary-general Chong Sin Woon urged the party to chart its own future amid Barisan Nasional’s (BN) indecision, speaking at the Selayang MCA division’s 2025 AGM. Frustrated by BN’s lack of direction post-GE15, Chong proposed nationwide divisional meetings in June to gather grassroots input, with robust debates at the year-end assembly. Despite the party’s loyalty to BN, Chong highlighted its sidelining, notably in the 2023 state polls and Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election. Disillusionment has driven defections to Bersatu, and Chong warned that without clarity on electoral alliances, the party’s motivation will wane, echoing unrest among Umno grassroots.
