Ryanair has threatened to cancel its $30 billion (RM127.7 billion) order for 330 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft if U.S. tariffs drive up prices, warning it may consider alternative suppliers like China’s COMAC.

In a letter to a senior U.S. lawmaker, CEO Michael O’Leary criticized the proposed tariffs, which could disrupt the global aerospace industry. Although COMAC is not certified in Europe and Airbus is fully booked, Ryanair’s threat signals growing tensions. 

Industry sources say aircraft contracts usually exclude tariff clauses, leading many firms to reassess future deals. The move may also be a strategic play amid behind-the-scenes negotiations with Boeing.
