The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two Home Ministry officers and one civilian in Putrajaya for allegedly accepting bribes to expedite applications for citizenship confirmation (Pengesahan Taraf Warganegara, PTW).
MACC Arrests Three Over Bribery in Citizenship Confirmation Scheme
The arrests, made between 1pm and 5pm yesterday, are part of ongoing investigations linked to the earlier Op Outlander operation, which uncovered a syndicate selling birth certificates for up to RM50,000 to parents of adopted or stateless children.
The suspects are currently being questioned at MACC headquarters. The Home Ministry has pledged full cooperation in the probe, which has seen accounts frozen and critical documents seized.
