A Merdeka Center survey, commissioned by Projek Sama, revealed that 62.2% of Indian respondents in Malaysia support former Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s pardon bid, followed by 50.5% of Muslim bumiputera and 43.0% of Malays. Conversely, 95% of Chinese respondents opposed the pardon, with 51% of non-Muslim bumiputera also against it. Conducted between March 27 and April 17, 2025, the survey included 1,210 respondents aged 18 and above, contacted via phone calls, with a 2.82% margin of error.

This suggests ethnic-specific sentiments, possibly tied to perceptions of Najib’s policies benefiting marginalized Indian communities, as some sources note his poverty-eradication efforts for Indians were well-received.
