A Projek Sama survey, conducted by Merdeka Centre, revealed 57.8% of 1,210 Malaysians across 222 constituencies oppose a royal pardon for Najib Razak’s corruption conviction. Reasons include betrayal (34.3%), pending cases (15.4%), and refusal to admit guilt (8.1%), said Projek Sama head Thomas Fann at a Kuala Lumpur event on May 9, 2025. Conversely, 32.7% support Najib’s pardon, citing national contributions. Support is strongest among Indian (62.2%) and Muslim bumiputra (50.5%) respondents, and BN voters (67.7%), while 95% of Chinese and 87.3% of Pakatan Harapan supporters oppose it.
