UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh warned Pakatan Harapan (PH) Melaka against expecting to contest Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 21 state seats won in the last election. Rejecting a proposed 14 BN and 14 PH seat-sharing plan, the Merlimau assemblyman said BN would not cede any seats, recalling PH’s past reluctance to share theirs. “If they want seats, we’ll compete,” he posted on social media. The statement followed nine DAP branches supporting the 14+14 strategy to strengthen the Unity Government’s mandate. Melaka’s next state election is expected by November 2026.
“To just hand them over to you? Not a chance—go ahead and keep dreaming,” he reportedly said.
