Effective today, the price of imported white rice (BPI) at all BERNAS warehouses in Malaysia has been reduced to RM2,600 per metric tonne. This is the second price cut since December 2024, aimed at easing living costs and ensuring food security amid global price fluctuations.

The government’s subsidy for Sabah and Sarawak remains unchanged. BERNAS assured that rice supply is stable, sourced from multiple countries including Vietnam, Thailand, and Myanmar to avoid overreliance. Agriculture Minister Mohamad Sabu said the adjustment followed consultations with BERNAS and reflects efforts to stabilise Malaysia’s food supply chain.
