The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested him on May 19 when he came to give a statement. The bribes were allegedly transferred to both his and his wife’s bank accounts.

The remand, effective until May 25, was approved by the Kuala Terengganu Magistrate’s Court. Terengganu MACC Director Hazrul Shazreen Abd Yazid confirmed the arrest. The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(b) of the MACC Act 2009.
