HANOI: Vietnamese authorities arrested Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien, former Miss Grand International 2021, on May 19 for consumer fraud involving Kera Supergreens Gummies. Tien, a prominent influencer, promoted the gummies as fibre-rich, equivalent to a “plate of vegetables,” alongside influencers Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc. Tests revealed only 0.935% fibre and 35% sorbitol, a laxative. The joint venture sold 135,000 packs for 18 billion dong (S$890,000), with Tien earning 7 billion dong. Her arrest follows a public backlash and earlier fines for undisclosed paid promotions.
