Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad emphasized the critical need for freedom of speech to understand public sentiment, stating that silencing people hinders effective leadership. “I must know what the people are thinking,” he said, warning that ignoring their concerns would prevent building a developed nation. Mahathir advocated for freedom in business, urging strong government-private sector collaboration to simplify processes and boost development. He also condemned rampant corruption, declaring it a barrier to exploiting the country’s wealth. “We need to develop this factory and make things easy,” he asserted, calling for transparent governance to ensure progress.
