Bangladeshi nationals in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya have admitted to misusing their work permits by running businesses such as restaurants and gadget shops, despite being legally allowed only to work under employment. 

‘I’m Not Robbing Anyone”: Bangladeshi Man Justifies Business Setup

To avoid detection, they use local Malaysians as front operators. A man, one such business owner, said he did it to support his family and claimed his ventures were legitimate and employed Malaysians. 

Another man shared a similar story, saying he started a business after being unfairly treated by previous employers. Both admitted fear of getting caught but said returning to Bangladesh was not a viable option for survival.
