KUALA LUMPUR: Lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah fiercely criticized a Kuala Lumpur High Court judge’s unilateral stay order on proceedings tied to former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s royal addendum case, comparing it to “Nazi-Germany” governance. The contempt proceedings, filed on May 21, target former Attorney-General Tan Sri Ahmad Terrirudin Salleh for allegedly concealing a royal addendum allowing Najib to serve his six-year sentence under house arrest. Shafee argued the judge’s administrative decision, without hearing both parties, was invalid. The stay follows the government’s appeal against Najib’s judicial review, with a Federal Court hearing set for July 2025.
