Kelantan’s Diabetes and Cholesterol Rates Surpass National Average

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad revealed that Kelantan is experiencing higher-than-average rates of diabetes and high cholesterol, according to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023.

Kelantan’s Diabetes and Cholesterol Rates Surpass National Average

Diabetes affects 16.3% of the population, surpassing the national average of 15.6%, while high cholesterol affects 34.9%, above the national rate of 33.3%. Meanwhile, 51.6% are overweight or obese, and 27.9% suffer from high blood pressure.

Although some indicators are below national levels, the minister expressed concern over the state’s health trends. The Ministry of Health is implementing the “Agenda Nasional Malaysia Sihat” (ANMS) to promote healthier lifestyles.
