Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has cautioned PKR against accepting Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who announced his resignation from Umno to join PKR on May 30, 2025. Asyraf noted that Umno has not received Zafrul’s resignation letter and views his move as a threat to unity government harmony. Zafrul, previously an Umno Supreme Council member and Kota Raja division chief, cited “compatibility” for joining PKR. Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh called Zafrul’s exit “great news,” urging him to resign as Investment, Trade and Industry Minister and challenging PKR to prove its loyalty to Umno.
