KUALA LUMPUR, June 1, 2025 — Malaysian police arrested a 30-year-old Indian national, a suspected drug kingpin of a transnational syndicate, in a Kuala Lumpur hotel on May 13. The operation, led by Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department and Narcotics Division, targeted the fugitive, wanted by India, who entered Malaysia on a tourist pass earlier this year. Inspector-General Razarudin Husain said no local drug trafficking links were found, but investigations continue for possible secret society connections. The suspect was deported to India on May 27. India’s Narcotics Control Bureau reported the syndicate smuggled drugs worth RM635 million.
