PETALING JAYA, June 5, 2025 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke reiterated his stance against political appointments in his ministry, emphasizing that public operators like Prasarana Malaysia Berhad should be led by professionals. Speaking at a forum in Menara Prasarana, Loke, the sole political appointee in his ministry, highlighted Prasarana’s improvements, with technical disruptions dropping significantly. Lift disruptions fell from 17 in 2022 to none this year, escalator issues reduced from 49 to three, and lighting disruptions decreased from 14,400 to 357. Loke’s position contrasts with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s recent defense of qualified political appointments.
