An influencer recently shared a video of himself preparing rendang using RM4,000 worth of wagyu—a lavish twist on the traditional dish. Typically enjoyed in small portions due to its delicate texture, wagyu has become increasingly popular in Malaysia, where many seem to appreciate its rich flavor.

However, others state that since the meat is delicate, it is not recommended to turn it into a rendang dish. An X user states the marbling in the meat will make it dry. Furthermore, to cook said meat, it would need to be rare or medium rare.
Others state this is the influencers mindset where they’re allegedly trying to impress their audience by doing massive stunts for their viewers. These stunts can either cost a lot of money or are extremely complicated to do.
