GERIK, June 9, 2025 — A devastating accident on the East-West Highway in Banun, Gerik, claimed 15 lives early this morning when a bus carrying Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students from Jertih, Terengganu, to Tanjung Malim, Perak, collided with a Perodua Alza MPV. The crash, reported at 1:10 a.m., saw the bus overturn and the MPV skid into a ditch. The Hulu Perak Civil Defence Force found 48 people involved, with 13 dead at the scene and two passing later. Four were injured. Firefighters cut open the bus to rescue six trapped victims.
