Police launched a drone-assisted operation on the Federal Highway today to catch motorcyclists not using the designated motorcycle lane. In just 30 minutes, 32 summonses were issued — including from real-time stops and drone footage, said Petaling Jaya Police Chief ACP Shahrulnizam Ja’afar.

The operation, supported by Bukit Aman’s Air Operations Force, aims to reduce accidents, as motorcyclists account for 70% of road fatalities. This year alone, 204 accidents and 34 deaths involving motorcyclists have been recorded in the district. Police warned that offenders recorded via drone will still be penalised and urged concessionaires to improve motorcycle lane safety.
