KUALA LUMPUR, June 11, 2025 – UMNO president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed an open stance on Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz’s decision to leave the party, stating it won’t derail the government’s efforts to bolster the economy and trade. Zahid emphasized separating politics from governance, maintaining that personal political choices shouldn’t disrupt national administration. Speaking after launching the Women in Export Forum 2025, he described his relationship with Zafrul as amicable. On May 30, Zafrul resigned from UMNO and announced plans to join PKR, while retaining his role as Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister.
