Following a tragic bus crash on June 9, 2025, at KM53 of the East-West Highway near Gerik, Perak, the Malaysian government announced financial aid for affected families. The accident, involving a Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) student bus and a Perodua Alza, claimed 15 lives and injured 33.
