KUALA LUMPUR, June 15, 2025 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim faced a cold shoulder from PKR grassroots as he failed to dissuade Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli from resigning, effective June 16. Rafizi, alongside Natural Resources Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, quit on May 28 after losing their PKR leadership posts. Anwar’s plea for reconsideration drew ridicule from pro-Rafizi factions, who decried the fading reformasi spirit. Rafizi’s symbolic act of clearing his office on June 13, a day after Anwar’s appeal, was seen as a defiant snub, intensifying tensions within the Madani government.
