BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has guaranteed that MCA and MIC will be allocated seats in the 16th general election, aiming to ease internal tensions as calls grow for the parties to quit the coalition. Zahid confirmed BN will contest under its traditional “scales” logo and emphasised the importance of standing by coalition partners. He praised MCA and MIC for their historical contributions, especially during Umno’s 1987 split. Despite recent pressure, including Alor Setar MCA’s resolution urging an exit from BN and the Madani government, Zahid remains confident all component parties will work together to strengthen the coalition.
