Umno’s Puad Zarkashi urged MCA to reconsider leaving Barisan Nasional (BN) amid internal pressures to exit the Anwar Ibrahim-led unity government. He emphasized BN’s cooperation with Pakatan Harapan, evident in recent by-elections and planned for the Sabah state election, as vital for political relevance. Puad warned that quitting BN would be “digging its own grave,” recalling MCA’s poor performance in GE15, securing only two seats. He challenged MCA to prove its capability by winning seats in Sabah. Umno hopes MCA stays, but Puad stressed that leaving could jeopardize the party’s survival.
