Dr. Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin has announced that he is prepared to face legal action initiated by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department for Religious Affairs, Mohd Na’im Mokhtar. Abu Hafiz denied defaming the minister, saying his comments were fair public criticism of a policymaker in a democracy.
Minister Mohd Na’im Sues Academic Over Alleged Online Defamation
Represented by Faizal Rahman of MESSRS Faizal Rahman & Co, he emphasized that ministers are not above criticism, especially on matters of public interest. Mohd Na’im filed a defamation suit on 14 June in the Shah Alam High Court, citing multiple alleged defamatory posts made by Abu Hafiz on social media.
