KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) has welcomed the new electricity tariff under Regulatory Period 4, effective July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2027. Fomca’s CEO, Dr. T. Saravanan, praised the tariff for easing financial burdens on B40 households. With a slight reduction from 45.62 sen/kWh to 45.40 sen/kWh, the tariff includes an “Energy Efficiency Incentive” ensuring no increase for households using 1,000 kWh or less monthly. Transparent billing and an expanded “Time of Use” scheme further empower B40 families to save by shifting usage to off-peak hours, promoting affordability and efficiency.
