Malaysians will see lower electricity bills starting July 1 under reforms in the Fourth Regulatory Period (RP4: 2025–2027), with base tariffs cut by 19%. Around 85% of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) users, particularly those consuming under 1,000 kWh monthly, will benefit.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the move promotes energy efficiency via the Time of Use programme, aligning with Malaysia’s renewable energy goals. Separately, Fahmi rejected claims linking the new IGP to PKR as slanderous.
He also defended MCMC’s civil suit against Telegram channels accused of spreading harmful content, stressing the need for stronger media ethics through the proposed Malaysian Media Council.
