Johor Trader Loses RM1.1 Million in Online Job Scam

A local trader in Johor lost RM1.1 million to a sophisticated online job scam after being promised lucrative commissions for reselling goods. The scam began on March 26 via a social media offer claiming 25% commission returns.

Johor Trader Loses RM1.1 Million in Online Job Scam

Between March 28 and June 13, the victim transferred money to 22 separate bank accounts, only to realise he had been duped after receiving no payments.

Johor police chief Datuk M Kumar confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Authorities are urging the public to stay alert and verify online job offers before transferring any funds.
